Reminder to Know State Policies

February 8, 2021

It is imperative that you read and understand these policies.

On January 28, 2021, Human Resources sent an email regarding ODFW 2021 Policy Acknowledgements.  The email read in part:

“In your Workday inbox you will receive one action item (with the subject line “ODFW 2021 Policy Acknowledgements”) to complete that will include seven policy acknowledgements.”

The policies that you are required to acknowledge are:

It is imperative that you read and understand these policies. Every year, Local 109 Union Stewards represent ODFW staff in disciplinary actions, including dismissal, for violations of these policies.  Staff have been put through pre-dismissal hearing and severely disciplined even when they had no deceitful intent and honestly just misunderstood one of these policies.

ODFW policies, especially those from ISD, can be filled with hard to understand language and jargon.  Regardless, you are expected to understand and follow these policies.  For example, did you know “Information Systems” include cell phones?  It is especially important that you read and understand the Code of Conduct.  For example, using agency property for personal use (including cell phones) can be consider a violation of Ethics/Conflict of Interest rules as well as Use of Property rules.  The policies for Maintaining a Professional Workplace, and, Discrimination and Harassment Free Workplace are also critical to understand.

The  ODFW 2021 Policy Acknowledgements have been posted to the Inbox of your Workday account.  You can “agree” to these policies without opening the links to the policy.  Do not do this.  It is essential that you thoroughly read, understand, and follow all these policies.  By agreeing to these policies in Workday, you will be subject to more severe discipline for a violation.

If you have any questions regarding any of these policies, please contact your union steward.  We do not want to see you go through the stress and anguish of a disciplinary action for violating one of these policies.
